The Rent Board will be having a hearing regarding the proposed rules and
regulations for the Mirkarimi decrease in housing service legislation. This
is your last chance to present comments on this proposal.
On August 8, 2006, Supervisor Mirkarimi and the Board of Supervisors passed
legislation limiting the property owner's right to terminate "housing
services". Housing services include parking, laundry, common areas,
storage, gardens, decks etc. A property owner now needs to have a "just
cause" for the removal of that service AND provide a rent reduction. SPOSF
fought this legislation, we tried to get an exemption for small property
owners. We were not successful.

Please attend the meeting and voice your concern about these rules and how
it will affect you. The law has been passed, but we still can make the
rules less onerous. We will try to send you talking points in another email
before the hearing.
