SPOSF Info Alert: November Election Endorsements

September 25, 2006

SPOSF November Election Endorsements

Because of rank choice voting, SPOSF's board decided to endorse more than
one candidate in a number of races.  Please be sure to vote for these
candidates and no others in the rank choice voting.  You do not have to vote
for all 3 positions.  Your vote for a third position could get hurt one of
these endorsed candidates.  Please come to our candidates night, Tuesday,
October 10th, to hear from the candidates and ask them questions so you can
decide for yourself how to rank them.  You should also check out their
websites to review their positions on various issues.  If you have time,
please volunteer for the candidate of your choice to ensure their election.

District 2          Michela Alioto-Pier      www.aliotopier2006.com

Supervisor Alioto-Pier has always been a consistent voice of reason
and sanity at the Board of Supervisors and deserves our strong support.

District 4        Ron Dudum       electdudum.com
                         Ed Jew              edjewforsupervisor.com

Supervisor Fiona Ma, a great voice for our concerns, is very likely to be
going to the State Assembly in November.  In her place, there are a number
of candidates that wanted our endorsement and that were strong on our
issues, some more so than others.  Find out more about each candidate, and
decide for yourself.

District 6          Rob Black        robblack2006.com
                      Matt Drake      mattdrake2006.com

We have a real chance to defeat Chris Daly in November and change the tone
of politics at City Hall.  We would be proud to have either of these two
qualified candidates as the District 6 supervisor.

District 8      No endorsement

SPOSF supported Supervisor Dufty in his original run for supervisor four
years ago, and we were instrumental in him winning.  While he has been a
reasonable voice on many issues at city hall, and has helped sustain the
Mayor's vote a number of important issues, his votes of late regarding
housing have been disappointing.  The board was very split on this vote.  We
expect that he will win easily over his opposition, the extremist Alix
Rosenthal, and look forward to working with Supervisor Dufty on issues of
importance to us.

District 10        Dwayne Jusino            votejusino.com
                      Espanola Jackson        espanolajacksonforsupervisor.org

We were impressed by both of these candidates.  Their questionnaires and
responses at the endorsement meeting showed that they would be intelligent
supervisors willing to listen to all sides on housing and other issues.
Supervisor Maxwell has been a consistent vote against us on every housing
issue at the Board of Supervisors.

Prop H - NO NO NO  -
Please volunteer your time and money to defeat this
extreme anti-homeowner proposition.  Watch for more information about the
campaign to defeat this measure.

Prop F - No.
While this is not a housing issue, the Board felt that it was
important to support the small businesses that this measure would hurt.

Prop K- Yes.
While this is nothing more than a declaration of Policy, SPOSF
believes that it is about time that the City recognized its responsibility
to take care of needy residents, not just small property owners.

There are only 6 weeks to election day.  We all need to volunteer our time
on these campaigns to ensure the future well being of San Francisco.
