SPOSF's Board will be discussing endorsements at our August meeting. We sent questionnaires to the nine major mayoral candidates. While interim Mayor Lee has not yet declared, everyone is anticipating that he will declare next week, in spite of repeated denials that he will run for a full term. Our board will review the mayoral candidates as well as and ballot initiatives for SPOSF's endorsement.

This is the first mayoral election where rank choice voting will determine the outcome of the race. You will get to vote for your first, second and third choice. It is unlikely that any candidate will garner more than 50% of the first place votes, so your second and third place votes are vital. We will most likely endorse three of the nine or ten candidates and leave it up to you to decide how to rank them. To help you learn about the candidates and their positions we are publicizing some upcoming mayoral forums. Please attend them and learn about the candidates. The first one is co-sponsored by the Duboce Triangle and Eureka Valley Neighborhood Associations. It will be on Monday August 8 at the Castro theater from 7-9:30 pm and is open to the public. The dates and locations for the other forums are also listed on our website. Please attend these forums and let your voice be heard!
