The President's Letter
Dear Small Property Owners of San Francisco, As your new president, I look forward to continuing all the hard work of my predecessor, Noni Richen, and I look forward to working with all of you in 2024. We will be alternating between our usual newsletter, the SPOSFI News, and the President Letter which is what you're holding now. Each publication will keep you informed about important issues facing owners of small rental properties.
Perhaps the biggest issue we face this November at the voting booth is defeating the so-called "Justice for Renters Act," the latest Michael Weinstein proposal. The Justice for Renters Act ballot is a state-wide initiative that will allow local communities to expand rent control.
The proposition will repeal the Costa-Hawkins Act which protects owners of small rental properties from the over-reach of their local governments. Thus, you can say "hello" to vacancy control. Please donate whatever you can afford to defeat "Justice for Renters Act." Visit the website: www.efundraisingconnections.com/c/CalRHAissues
You will find instructions for payment by credit or debit card. You can also submit a check to Californians for Affordable Housing PAC. Be sure to write "SPOSFI" in the memo space on your check. We suggest a minimum of $100 per each unit you own.
Thank you,
Brian Wallace, SPOSF/SPOSFI President
