SPOSF: Rally Thursday, July 24 to Stop the Housing Tax
RALLY TO STOP THE HOUSING TAX
Please come to City Hall this Thursday, July 24 at 1:00 p.m. for a rally to stop the 14% to 24% surtax (sales tax) on property resold within 5 years. The first year tax on a $1 million building would come to $240,000.
The surtax measure was introduced by Supervisor Eric Mar and co-sponsored by Supervisors Jane Kim, David Campos and John Avalos. Small Property Owners in Districts 1, 6, 9 and 11, please come to ask your Supervisors to withdraw this proposed legislation immediately. We need to send a clear message to elected officials that this housing tax must be stopped. One more point: the $240,000 first year tax is retroactive on properties already sold these past five years.
Date: Thursday; July 24th, 2013
Time: 1:00 PM
Location: City Hall Steps (Polk Street)
